Presence and Playing Better Golf

𝐁𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐎𝐖

Fully Engaged in what you are doing... when you are doing it.

The term we use to describe this important mental state is PRESENCE.

When it comes to being able to play better golf when it matters most... PRESENCE is one of the most powerful skills you can develop.

Electronic devices are one of the biggest challenges to being Present on command.

Being fully absorbed in electronic devices is not PRESENCE.

EEG studies tell us it is a completely different dominant brainwave frequency.

When you are 'locked in" to your device you may be fully absorbed... but you are in the beta brainwave frequency which is not the frequency of Presence.

There are multiple studies that also show when you are staring at a device... you are triggering the stress hormone cortisol.

Cortisol is a performance killer.

When you feel nervousness and anxiety before a shot... that is the feeling you get from cortisol.

BUT... the reality is electronic devices are not going away.

What is the key?

How can you overcome "device addiction" and being able to access PRESENCE so you can play well?

Find Your Balance.

You don't need to stop using your device.

But you do need to spend some time doing meditation or breathing exercises or mindful movement to counterbalance the negative effects of your device.

As little as 10 minutes a day can make a huge difference.

One of the comments I hear most from my clients is how much better they feel just from doing a little bit of Presence practice each day.

It's just like working out.

A little bit everyday makes a huge difference.
